Description

Camille, Etienne and Victor have been producing hops since 2021 in Balignicourt (Aube, 10), organically since 2023.

They grow and process on site Brewer's Gold, an organic dual-purpose variety, which has shown good adaptation to the climatic conditions of eastern France.

Production of organic Brewer’s Gold in Europe is very limited: only a few tonnes are produced in France.

Professor Ernest Stanley Salmon selected this variety at Wye College in England in 1919; it is the result of a cross with a wild hop from Manitoba, Canada.

Despite its popularity, the super-alpha hop varieties of the 1980s (Northern Brewer, Target, Nugget) supplanted Brewer’s Gold.

It is quite close to its little sister, Bullion.

Brewer’s Gold is the parent of many modern super-alpha varieties; it was used to breed varieties such as:

  • Galena,
  • Nugget,
  • Marynka,
  • Centennial…

You can substitute Brewer’s Gold pellets with the following varieties:
