Description

Etienne, Camille and Victor, who have only recently started producing organic hops in the Aube, have been growing Chinook since 2021, in conversion to organic.

Use Chinook for beers such as pale ale, IPA and NEIPA, to make the most of its very fruity aroma, with notes of citrus, lemon and stone fruit.

The Chinook variety is a cross between Petham Golding and a Neomexicanus male from the USDA and has a spicy, pine-like bouquet with grapefruit flavours. Released in 1985, Chinook has recently gained popularity, particularly among craft breweries.

It is one of the varieties with the greatest aroma potential currently grown in France.

  • Relatively good disease resistance, particularly to downy mildew, low susceptibility to aphids.
  • Good yields (1400-1800 kg/hectare)
  • Good aroma and alpha quality (9-14% alpha acids) and fairly low co-humulone content (20-22%)

This makes it an ideal candidate for organic farming in France.

You can substitute Chinook with the varieties Centennial, Lunga, Cascade, Pilgrim, Comet
