Description

Herkules hops are grown, dried and processed into pellets on a family farm in Poland.

Mainly a bittering variety, Herkules has been growing in popularity with European brewers since its release in 2005.

Use Herkules hops for aroma to give your beer notes of melon, mint, black pepper and pine.

Developed at the Hop Research Centre in Hüll, from a cross with Hallertauer Taurus, Herkules is a very bitter hop (14-20% AA).

Since its release in 2005, it has largely replaced Magnum acreage, formerly the bitterest variety; in 2020 it was grown on 6 554 hectares out of a total of nearly 20000 hectares (34%).

From an agronomic point of view, Herkules is very resistant to downy mildew and Verticillium, which makes it an ideal variety for organic farming production.

Moreover, as its name suggests, the vigour of Herkules is exceptional: it yields up to 2700 kg / hectare, and the production record in Germany is 3700 kg / hectare.

You can substitute Herkules pellets with:

  • Taurus
  • Magnum
  • Merkur
  • Nugget
  • Polaris
