This variety is one of those selected for its vigour, its “dual-purpose” profile (bittering and aroma) and its resistance to disease. The grower has been growing hops under organic farming since 2017 and obtained certification in 2021. Harvests from the plots planted in recent years are available on www.brewstock.fr, both organic and in conversion to organic.

A quintessentially versatile variety, ideal for bitters, stouts or saisons, Pilgrim was developed in England by Wye College and released in 2000. It is a robust variety with many strengths:

Excellent yields and very good storage stability.

Remarkable disease resistance, particularly to wilt (Verticillium) and to the various downy mildews.

Complex aroma properties: spicy notes (pepper, cedar), orchard fruit (pear) and a characteristic honeyed touch.

Initially seen as a simple bittering hop because of its high alpha acid content (9-13%), this variety has made its name for its fine aroma qualities when used late in the boil. It offers a roundness on the palate that sets it apart from older English varieties.

Thinking of brewing an English bitter, a farmhouse saison or a complex brown beer? French organic Pilgrim is the variety you need!

Its genetics are solid: it comes from a cross between the variety Yeoman and a male plant from a dwarf variety (First Gold), giving it a more compact plant architecture and great vigour.

Although it is more recent than Cascade, it has become a must-have in the modern British brewing scene for its reliability.

You can substitute Pilgrim with:

Target,

Challenger,

Pioneer (for its lemony/spicy character).

Organic Pilgrim hops from Flanders, produced by Houblon de la Motte since 2017

Vacuum-packed and under inert gas, resealable 5 kg bag

Shipped by the grower; delivery method and delivery time displayed in the basket

[193

56,59

post-15146","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","bw_producteur-houblon-de-la-motte","product_cat-houblon","product_cat-houblon-pellet","pa_pays-de-production-france","first","instock","taxable","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-variable","has-default-attributes

Organic Pilgrim pellets, Houblon de la Motte | Brewstock

<meta name="description" content="Houblon Pilgrim bio français, cultivé en Flandres.
